Director of Family Life Ministries Overview We are looking for a person called to lead Chapel Hill Church ministries to children, students, infants, and their families, as well as extending this ministry into our community as well. The ideal candidate would have experience ministering to children and their parents. This role requires a person who relates well to people of different ages and backgrounds. The primary purpose of this position is focused on children, with a secondary focus on helping to organize and assist the volunteers overseeing student ministries. Responsibilities • To oversee all programming for the children throughout CHC. • Maintain and manage the current security system put in place for the children’s care • Plan and oversee special events focused on children’s ministry (e.g. VBS) • Take an active part in planning outreach focused events involving children (e.g. Fall Fest, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.) • In consultation with other church leaders, define a vision for the children’s ministry that contributes to the church’s overall vision. Develop a ministry plan to achieve that vision. • Discover, develop, and deploy new and active children’s ministry volunteers. • Regularly communicate with the church and leadership about the activity of children’s ministry. • Maintain the integrity of the children’s Bible teaching time by ensuring the instruction is consistent with the Scripture and doctrinal convictions of the church. • Manage all children’s ministry staff from infancy through 5th grade. • Assist the volunteer youth staff with event planning, curriculum, and possible occasional teaching. • Identify and execute ministry and missions’ opportunities for children to participate in. • Develop an annual budget for the children’s ministry and operate within the constraints of that budget. • Review all curriculum used by the children’s ministry and youth ministry and ensure that it is consistent with the Scriptural and doctrinal stance of the church. • Any musical background and/or ability to lead worship is desirable. Requirements • A desire to teach and mentor children in biblical truth. • A growing Christian faith and character. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • An understanding and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church. • A willingness to be an active part of the family of CHC and not just look at the position as a job. • Bachelors degree preferred (Christian ministry or education) or ministry experience equivalent. Compensation • Paid Vacation • Sick Days • Personal Days • Holidays: Holidays not coinciding with church services (i.e. Easter, some Christmas Eve, and Christmas services) Accountability The Director of Family Life Ministries will: • Be directly responsible to the Lead Pastor on a monthly basis (minimally) to discuss the specifics of ministry responsibilities, attend staff weekly meetings, and authorize and implement ministry plans through the Lead Pastor • Submit a written monthly report monthly to the Elder Board, and a written annual report at the Annual Congregational Meeting. • Regularly attend the worship services and consider CHC as his/her home church. Evaluation Process • The Director of Family Life Ministries will receive an evaluation from the Lead Pastor twice in the first year, and once per year thereafter. Input of performance will also be considered from interviews of people within the scope of influence of the Director of Family Life Ministries. • The Chairman of the Elder Board will review all evaluations.
