The Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship will personally be responsible to lead our Adult Ministries Discipleship with room to reinvent, rejuvenate, create, and expand, deploy our congregation and raise up lay people to serve in their gifts, and help shepherd our other 6 full-time Pastors and 3 Directors as they seek to have mission and vision fulfillment in their areas of expertise and responsibility! Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship The goal: Maximizing and unifying the efforts of many in the area of discipleship A 900+ church in the Ohio Valley District is seeking an Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship. The Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship will be responsible for all adult discipleship, coordinating the focus and curriculums of, and raising up lay leaders for, all areas of adult education, including small groups, Sunday classes, and men’s/women’s ministries. The Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship will also focus on the full-time pastoral staff (6) and part-time director level staff (3) to make sure that all ministries are moving toward the same ministry vision and mission target. Finally, the Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship will be the third member of the three-member team for Executive Level staff made up of the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor of Operations and Strategy and Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries and Discipleship. Job focus would be as follows. Staff Oversight and Relationships: • Meet with each pastoral and director level staff member regularly (e.g. monthly) to check in on ministry focus, effectiveness and cohesiveness with the church mission and vision. • Address any areas of concern with ministry focus or misalignment of mission and vision. • Maintain a pulse on staff togetherness and effectiveness on meeting goals as set by the board for attainment of mission and vision. • Report to Lead Pastor any issues of concern or significant success in any ministry. • Work with Lead Pastor on staff connectedness and morale. • Work with Executive Pastor of Operations & Strategy on areas of staff performance. • Along with Lead Pastor have a shepherding heart and attitude with a listening ear to staff not only in ministry areas but personally as well. Adult Discipleship: • Personally have a hand in Sunday morning adult education through selecting and training teachers and curriculums, making sure the format and follow-through of the classes promotes discipleship and community. • Lead the small group leaders by offering trainings, support, encouragement and developing new leaders and groups as needed. • Cheerlead and coordinate all adults finding their place in ministry at our church through a serving group and a growing group. • Work with the leader of men’s ministries to ensure the growth of that ministry and maintain focus on church mission and vision regarding discipleship and community. • Work with the director of women’s ministries to ensure the growth of that ministry and maintain focus on church mission and vision regarding discipleship and community. • Raise up and empower adult lay leaders across the entirety of adult ministries. Executive Leadership Team: • Work with Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor of Operations and Strategy on mission fulfillment strategies for the staff. • Be a voice of staff representation at the upper level as decisions are made as needed due to pulse on staff health, work load, effectiveness, and silo/teamwork status. • Allow the Lead Pastor to focus on Preaching, Vision casting/fulfillment, board relations, church leadership, congregational prayer and training of lay leaders while supporting him in staff care and team morale. • Allow the Executive Pastor of Operations and Strategy to focus on church business matters, administrative staff leadership, church finances, and other executive duties. Other expectations: This role will report to the Lead Pastor and work closely with him. This Pastor will enjoy ministry in a large church context and anticipate with excitement growth and potential expansion of church through multiple Sunday services and campuses or venues. Position will be full-time with an expectation of 40 hours of work per week and salary based on experience. Benefits will be commensurate to other full time pastoral staff. Educational and experience requirements: • Should hold a bachelor’s degree with preference given to those with an M. Div. or M.B.A. • Several years of experience on a large church staff would be expected as well as past experience leading adult ministries. • Will be or become licensed in the OVD of the C&MA with goal of eventual ordination if desired or needed if not already ordained through the C&MA.
