Pastor of Small Group Ministries and Discipleship Full-Time Position PURPOSE: The Pastor of Small Group Ministry and Discipleship is responsible for the planning, implementation and optimization of the faith development or spiritual formation process of Adults at Christ Community Church. The primary method of engagement requiring this role's orchestration is the Adult, Small Group Ministry. This will include adult education. EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, SPIRITUAL GIFTS: - Master's degree from an Accredited Seminary (Preferred)/Minimum expectation of a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical/Theological Studies or equivalent. - 3-5 years of previous discipleship experience with demonstrated progress in a church 500 or larger. - Experience in an associate role in a multi-staff church. - 2-4 years of small group experience. - Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, deploy, monitor, and nurture volunteer leadership. - Gifted in the areas of leadership, equipping, and teaching. - Strong relational and communication skills (written and verbal). - Forward thinking, self-motivated, reliable, and organized. - Elder Qualified. COMPETENCIES AND EXPECTATIONS: - Takes care to develop their own spiritual formation which includes regular practice of sabbath rest, time with God (e.g., Quiet Time, Daily Office, Devotions) and personal growth. - Embrace and embody the mission and values of Christ Community Church. - Embraces the theological position of the church and The Christian and Missionary Alliance. - Recognizes that a good amount of work will occur when small groups actually meet. - Is reliable and takes initiative. - Embrace and adapt to growth and change. Has the capacity for innovation and creativity. - Use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality in working with people. - Have a cooperative, healthy and motivating relationship with supervisors and coworkers. - An outgoing and approachable personality. - Past history of effectively building ministry teams. Proven record and ability to recruit, train, deploy, monitor, and nurture lay leaders. - Has led and multiplied small groups. - Has had experience creating discipleship making systems and process. - Would be helpful to be aware of Emotionally Healthy Spirituality discipleship process by Peter Scazzero and Contagious Disciplemaking by David Watson and Paul Watson. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Developing, Implementing and Overseeing - 60% - Pays attention to personal spiritual formation, discipleship and important family relationships. - Responsible for ongoing recruiting, training, deploying, monitoring, and nurturing of small group leaders and small group leader coaches who oversee groups by region. - Determine and develop with the Lead Pastor, and other staff as needed, discipleship and spiritual formation processes that moves all adults at CCC along a continuum of spiritual maturity. - Develop and/or implement curriculum for groups that is capable of reaching people at any stage in their with Christ. - Motivate staff and volunteer leaders to start and multiply small groups so that community is being built among those who attend CCC. - In cooperation with the Pastor of Assimilation and Pastoral Care, bridge the transition from assimilation to group involvement and active discipleship opportunities in various neighborhood groups. - Lead a small group and visit existing small groups. - In cooperation with the Pastor of Assimilation and Pastoral Care, work to do evangelism via groups (e.g. Alpha). - Conceptualize and implement adult ministry learning options (e.g. Financial Peace University, Emotionally Healthy Discipleship, Bible and Theology classes, etc.) - Oversee the development of the prayer team. Administrative Duties - 20% - Measure ministry progress and outcomes through their correlation to the mission, values and strategic initiatives of the church; "Restoring our Broken World". - Provide oversight of volunteer leaders and small groups coaches. - In cooperation with the Director of Operations and Pastor of Adult Ministries, develop and maintain the annual budget for Discipleship and Small Group Ministries. - Plan and implement special programs and events. - Evaluate the effectiveness of the small group ministry. - Keep discipleship visible to the church body as an integral part of ministries to adults. Teaching Responsibilities - 20% - Provide preaching and teaching (on occasion) as assigned by the senior pastor. - Provide corporate teaching in selected adult ministry areas to supplement lay group teachers. - Develop and runs small group training events yearly. Works to develop a usable small group leaders handbook. RELATIONSHIPS: - Reports to the Lead Pastor or Lead Pastor designate. - Collaborate with Pastor of Assimilation and Pastoral Care, Management Team and Lead Pastor, as needed. - Be a resource and encouragement to ministry staff, office staff, and church members. - Be a regular participant in public worship at CCC.
