Youth Director Arbor Heights Community Church | Seattle, WA STATUS: Part-time, salaried HOURS: 20 hours per week plus BENEFITS: Vacation, holiday, sick leave MISSION STATEMENT The goal of the Youth Ministry (Middle and High School) is to build disciples for Christ who can actively share their faith, influence the culture and make other disciples. The mission of discipleship in relational environments will be a key component of this ministry. SUPERVISION The Youth Director reports to the Senior Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Senior Pastor provides an annual evaluation of the Youth Pastor’s performance, based on an agreed ministry action plan. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility of the Youth Director is to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to student ministry. This comprehensive approach is based on the understanding of the below objectives: • Help plan, develop and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry • Recruit and train volunteers to serve and disciple in various aspects of youth ministry and ensure adequate adult to youth ratios • Create attractive and compelling environments to which our youth can invite their non-Christian friends • Select and implement curriculum for both Sunday and mid-week gatherings for youth (grades 6-12) • Teach and equip youth the gospel and its implications for all of life • Demonstrate Jesus’ love and truth through teaching and modeling • Support and assist the parents in the process of discipling their youth • Be an advocate for youth and young adults and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of youth in the local church and community • Mentor youth and young adults in developing their leadership skills • Participate in continuing education events and training opportunities • Manage the youth ministry budget • Communicate with the youth and parents in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, texting, etc.). • Work in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a strong teamwork mentality • Attend all required Staff Meetings as well as any other regular scheduled meetings • Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all youth ministry settings
