Associate Pastor of Outreach & Discipleship Hope Community Church in Hudson Ohio is looking for a full time paid position to serve as an Associate Pastor of Outreach and Discipleship primarily. This person needs to have a heart and gifting in cultivating new ground - helping reach people we are not currently reaching. Ideally, someone who desires to be with us long term, with a church planting mindset to help us establish new sites that become self sustaining. JOB SUMMARY The associate pastor will work alongside the senior pastor and lay leaders to shepherd and implement the vision of our church. Specifically the Associate Pastor will have direct oversight for the Outreach and Discipleship ministries of the church. He will also handle the administrative duties and assist the senior pastor with pastoral care responsibilities as needed. The goal for the associate pastor is to equip and empower church members to serve in the outreach and discipleship ministries. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Outreach & Discipleship (50%) – leading people to Jesus. Moving people from the world to followers of Jesus. Be an outreach catalyst – lead us to the unchurched, witness with us and grow new members of Hope Community. a. Training church members in evangelism. This includes oversight of the outreach ministry and leadership of the people who serve on the various teams. b. Oversight of outreach events – planning, recruiting teams, implementing the plan, promoting the event. c. Leadership of greeting / welcome / guest services team – designing and implementing welcome strategy, recruiting and training teams. d. Function as owner and champion of all external marketing activities maximizing attendance of special outreach focused events, key evangelistic sermon series and other activities requiring external marketing e. Help cultivate and launch new programs and worship gatherings in other communities (i.e. multi-site) f. Oversight of visitor follow-up – designing visitor follow-up strategy, recruiting and training teams g. Oversight of “Who is Jesus” class for seekers interested in understanding more about Jesus and the Gospel h. Leadership of Basics 101 to 401 – facilitate and equip staff and lay leaders in the starting point classes as the vehicle for becoming a member of the church and learning the foundational behaviors and principles for becoming a devoted follower of Christ. The outcome of these courses is to empower and develop active members in our community and an engaged member of our community i. Help develop our local and global missions initiatives and partnerships 2. Administration (25%) - Administration duties begin with the associate pastor and are delegated out to the appropriate channel. a. Coordinates administration duties with the office coordinator and administrative staff b. Play an active role in evaluating and coaching paid and lay ministry leaders 3. Pastoral Ministry (25%) – assisting the Senior pastor with hospital visits, preaching 6 - 8 Sundays per year, counseling, weddings, funerals, baptisms and other pastoral duties as necessary on a rotational basis. a. As a member of the teaching team be involved in long-range planning The ideal candidate is someone with significant pastoral and life experience. The goal is to bring experience and maturity to the pastoral staff. The ideal candidate must meet the qualifications below: • 5 years ministry experience • Ideally Biblical degree from accredited college. • Demonstrate love and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior • Maintain a believers testimony and lifestyle – personal integrity and moral purity • Meet the biblical qualifications for elders outlined in I Timothy 3, Titus 1 and I Peter 5 • Be able to preach and teach effectively • Have a solid work ethic and ability to administrate • Practice a biblical attitude to authority and conflict • Highly accomplished in ministry and management skills • Demonstrate confidentiality, tact and good judgement • Work in an organized and efficient manner • Relational – ability to connect with the unchurched and comfortable sharing the Gospel outside the church walls • Creative person with vision and sensitivity to God’s spirit for on-going direction • Experience encouraging and mentoring young adults and professionals • A collegial attitude with team building ability
