217church Lead Pastor Position Profile The Role: • The next Senior Pastor will be a visionary biblically based leader, who will take 217church to the next level of the vision of rebuilding lives one person at a time. • This individual will be an excellent team leader who is marked by a love for the presence of God, the people of God, and the character that’s necessary to effectively cast vision and develop the staff and leaders of 217church. This individual will also possess the tools to train, equip, and release the next level of leaders needed for the church to thrive and advance. • As a gifted teacher and preacher, it is imperative he be authentic and relatable to diverse generations in a multicultural setting. People will walk away both challenged intellectually and motivated toward personal change. • With the board and elders, the Lead Pastor will cast vision and lead the church into the next season of effective community impact and congregational growth. He will be a strong Bible teacher and will have proven shepherding gifts. The reach and influence of 217church will grow in breadth (numbers) and depth (spiritual growth) and will become more effective than ever at reaching the next generation and young families. • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an ability to grow/build small group ministries that will nurture the congregation through discipleship and raise up new leaders in the church. The Characteristics of Our Next Lead Pastor: Education and Credentials • The ideal candidate will have bible degree and be theologically trained. A seminary background is a great bonus but not required. However, we desire our next leader to be pursuing continuing higher education. • Be an ordained minister in in the Christian and Missionary Alliance or be able to transfer credentials from another recognized denomination or body. Experience • The ideal candidate will have had seven or more years of experience in a pastoral leadership position. It is likely this individual has had experience as a key associate position or a senior/lead pastor position. • Has been a leader of teams who is a proven builder of unity with clear evidence of fruit from sacrificial ministry Character Qualities Taken from scriptures, certain skills and character competence levels are important for this role: • He must be able to preach, teach, and exposit the Word of God. (1 Tim 3:2, 2 Timothy 4:2) • Has a wife who embraces her husband’s ministry and has an equal love and passion for the local church. (2 Corinthians 6:14) • He must be able to manage, care and be an example for the people (1 Timothy 3:4-5). • He must believe the major doctrines of the faith (1 Timothy 4:16). In addition, he must hold to the doctrinal distinctives of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. • He must possess the wisdom and gentleness that knows how to refute false teachers (2 Timothy 2:24-25). • Not a lover of money, not materialistic, but a history of tithing at least 10% to the local church, with evidence of years of financial sacrifice for the advancement of the Gospel. (Leviticus 27:30, 1 Timothy 6:6-10). • He is a person who is constant in prayer. (Romans 12:12) • He is a servant leader (John 13, Philippians 2:5). • He shows love that does not lead out of legalism. (Ephesians 5:1-2) Compensation • This is a full-time exempt position with health and retirement benefits.
