Rio Life Community Church Lead Pastor Candidate Profile Rio Life Community Church, in Mercedes Texas, is seeking an individual to join the Pastoral Staff in the role of Lead Pastor. This is an opportunity to serve God with a bi-cultural English/Spanish speaking church family that is continuing its Gospel proclaiming, disciple-making ministry of over 70 years. Overview Rio Life Community Church is looking for a Lead Pastor who will lead a plurality of pastor/elders (staff and non-staff) in equipping the saints to do the work of the ministry of making disciples that make disciples. Our next Lead Pastor will lead with his gifted APEST function (Ephesians 4:11) as a first among many (1 Timothy 5:17), being the lead servant of a team of appointed, and church affirmed, pastor-elders who servant-lead in their gifted APEST functions. He will lead and direct the preaching/teaching ministry team of pastor-elders, ensuring that a biblically-based message of significance is delivered with passion and excellence. While under the church’s constitutional oversight of RLCC’s Governing Board, the Lead Pastor will act as Chairman of the Board, chief shepherd of the general church family, and specifically, the volunteer and vocational staff of the church, as well as function as the Chief Executive Officer of the church. Candidate Requirements: Candidates who are interested in being considered for the role of RLCC’s Lead Pastor must: • Be willing to commit to the mission, membership covenant, and ministry of RLCC (provided) • Provide a questionnaire (provided) that includes a list of strong recommendations and references • (if selected to candidate) Go through an interview process that includes a church visit with his wife (if married), a formal interview, leadership social, and Sunday morning sermon. Candidate Characteristics: • Demonstrates a deep, personal relationship with Jesus evidenced in daily life and exhibits the character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4 • Lives a principled personal life of disciple-making to makes disciples that make disciples • Earnestly seeks God’s will above all other possible motivations • Seeks a prayerful life as a priority, both personally and in the life of the church • Embraces a disciple making and church multiplication church model and culture, and will effectively communicate this visionary direction to RLCC • Demonstrates a passionate, heartfelt love for people with a Christ-like concern for their spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional well-being Candidate responsibilities: Preaching/Teaching: Upholds the Biblical mandate to teach sound doctrine and the Gospel centrality of all matters of relevant life in the day, by leading and empowering a teaching/preaching team that will seek to discern God’s message, spend significant time and study to develop and deliver that message while employing a variety of effective preaching and teaching methods. Teaches and facilitates ministry equipping seminars, classes or courses for the purpose of equipping the saints to do the work of disciple-making ministry. Leadership Vision: Seeks God’s direction to develop His vision for RLCC, and fulfills that vision in a way that maximizes available gifts and resources. Seeks to find new ways and networking resources to accomplish God’s purpose for the church. Staff Leadership: Identifies and develops gifted volunteer and vocational staff. Continually leads the evaluation of ministry programs/efforts and proposes strategies for improvement. Provides ongoing disciple-making and spiritual oversight of church staff members with the end of continually creating a culture of disciple-making. Congregational Leadership: Challenges the church to live Gospel-centered lives in such a way that allows for a personal transformation experience by the power of the Holy Spirit. Seeks to lead a church family that knows and lives to make disciples that make disciples in our local community and to the ends of the earth. Shepherding Relational Care: Intentionally seeks to know the RLCC family and its surrounding communities. Demonstrates hospitality, works at being a good listener, provides Biblical correction and shows a genuine concern for those who don’t know Christ. Congregational Care: Provides counseling/mentoring services as needed. Participates in various special services and events such as weddings, funerals, prayer meetings, baptisms, child dedications, ministry ordinations, communion, etc. Candidate minimum qualifications: • Ordained with the Christian and Missionary Alliance or willing to fulfill the Ordination requirements within the first 2 years • Education: Bachelor education preferred, not required • Significant and proven record of experience in pastoral ministry; preaching-teaching, leadership, and supervision of multi-function staff • Language: Conversational Spanish preferred, not required Compensation/Benefits Rio Life Community Church Lead Pastor is a full-time position with a salary/housing compensation and benefits package.
