Community Alliance Church POSITION: Director of Youth Ministry Community Alliance Church of Butler, PA is looking for its next Director of Youth Ministry. Our church of more than 1,000 is seeking a person who has a passion to reach teenagers and is a strong leader of leaders. This individual will be enthusiastic about building a community where all are welcome, and each person can find meaningful connection to Christ, other students and leaders. This position is part of a staff which has a highly motivated team culture. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly relational and able to develop significant connections with 6th through 12th graders by leading small groups and building strong relationships with youth. This individual will also develop adult leaders who invest and impact the students. The Director of Youth Ministry has the privilege of leading a 3-member support staff who make up the Youth Ministry Team. The Director is responsible for continuing to develop a vision and strategy for the entire ministry. Characteristics and Core Competencies: • Strong leader • Continually optimistic • Able to produce results • Demonstrated self-starter who initiates • Proven problem solver • Established ability to resolve conflict • Adept at recruiting, training and retaining youth and adult leaders • Capable of clearly identify challenges and developing creative solutions Responsibilities Vision / Strategy • Develop (in conjunction with the Lead Pastor) a vision and strategy for Youth Ministry which fits under the overall vision of the church • Develop objectives and SMART goals for each area of Youth Ministry • Ensure all employees and volunteer leaders understand and support the ministry vision • Assist volunteer leaders in understanding their purpose and their clearly defined roles • Lead all department employees and volunteers effectively to accomplish the ministry vision • Provide training and pastoral care as needed for volunteer leaders Program (TNL and C) • Develop strategy for each program which fits within the overall Youth Ministry vision • Share speaking responsibilities within both programs • Develop interesting and inviting, seeker friendly programs each week during the school year • Design weekly game time and teaching time to engage kids and teach them • Interact with kids as well as adult leaders during program time • Design roles for adults involved in the ministry to enable them to impact students on Thursday and Sunday nights and at other events • Handle discipline problems with children • Resolve conflict with children as well as parents • Oversee large events designed to increase participation and build relationships • Manage publicity for the congregation and ministry families for events Leadership • Effectively lead Youth Ministry staff in daily activities and accomplishment of overall vision • Provide leadership, guidance and feedback to the Youth Ministry staff • Recruit, enlist, train and mentor adult leaders to play a key role in this ministry • Oversee and conduct training and development of all Youth Ministry volunteers Budget • Create and track annual budget of the Youth Ministry • Maintain records, receipts and fill out appropriate paperwork Competencies • Interpersonal Skills o Focuses on solving problems o Maintains confidentiality o Listens well and seeks to understand others o Provides counsel and direction to youth • Teamwork o Supervises and directs employees and volunteers effectively o Able to take charge and lead well o Demonstrates openness to others' views o Welcomes input and feedback o Contributes to building a positive team o Values others’ gifts and skills; maintains a positive outlook of others and their ministry • Adaptability o Adapts to changes and is able to adjust an approach or method to best fit a situation o Able to deal with and lead through crisis and unexpected events Qualifications • An official worker of the C.M.A. or willing to pursue licensing and / or ordination • Must agree with and adhere to Christian and Missionary Alliance theology • Must be skilled in using Microsoft Office software • Must be proficient in using technology • Must be able to perform research and analysis using the internet and creatively use social media to enhance ministry impact
