Associate Pastor Purpose of the Position • To oversee executive administration and discipleship. • To serve the River of Life in a general pastoral role. • To support and serve alongside of the Lead Pastor. • To “lead leaders” within the congregation of River of Life. Qualifications for the Position • A mature Christian who displays I Timothy 3:1-7 (Elder qualities) and Galatians 5:22,23 (Fruit of the Spirit) character. • A passion for Christ’s church and an ability to relate well to adults of all ages. • Proven ability to recruit and lead volunteer teams. • Proven ability to lead and administrate within the church and a staff team. • Proven ability to teach God’s Word. • Licensed, or able to be licensed, by The Christian & Missionary Alliance. • Agreement with Christian & Missionary Alliance doctrine and mission. • Preference given to candidate with prior pastoral ministry experience. Primary Responsibilities • Executive: Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and elders to administer and implement the mission and vision of the church. o Ensure pastoral staff is leading ministries in concert with the mission and vision of ROL. o Conduct weekly, individual support meetings for staff Pastors/Ministry Directors. o Equip, supervise, and review all office support staff. o Provide leadership to the church Treasurer and oversees ministry budgets and annual budget process with the Treasurer and Church Administrator. o Oversee iConnect and assimilation ministry with support of Church Administrator. o Develop and oversee a Deacon ministry to oversee the maintenance/care of the building and grounds. o In conjunction with Church Administrator and contractors, maintain and develop church technology (computers, network, etc.). o Review, create, and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective operation of the church. • Discipleship: Guide and equip ROL’s members and ministries to live out a comprehensive discipleship process. o In partnership with the Lead Pastor, develop and implement a measurable discipleship process from new believers through mature believers. o In partnership with the Student Ministry Pastor develop a discipleship strategy for Journey Groups. Provide oversight to the Student Ministry Pastor for implementation of this strategy. (Student Ministry Pastor currently oversees Journey Group ministry.) o Oversee Men’s and Women’s Ministries. This includes coming alongside ministry teams in their to ensure that their purposes line up with the mission, vision and core values of ROL. o Recruit, equip and oversee a ministry team for college ministry. o Mentor students in the Ministerial Study Program. o Develop a strategy for livestream/online engagement. • Attend Elder and Governing Board meetings. • Share weddings, funerals, counseling, visitation, and benevolence. • Co-lead staff meetings with Lead Pastor as needed. • Supervise staff in absence of Lead Pastor. • Preach approximately one time every six weeks as requested by Lead Pastor. • Participate in staff meetings and pastoral functions as assigned by the Lead Pastor. Relationships • Reports to the Lead Pastor. • Relates to and coordinates with other ministry staff and volunteers. • Non-voting member of the Elder and Governing Board.
