Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Sharing the Gospel, Planting the church and take care of the church.
We are thankful for the C&MA and IM that it gave me the opportunity to serve Mongolia in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The encouragement and service which I received from IM is beyond my expectation. It was more than enough. The missionary journey was long, difficult and narrow journey, but it happened because of you, C&MA. Thank you so much for your sacrificial support and dedicated prayer.
From the beginning of our journey in Mongolia, we started with the strong conviction that C&MA mission movement is missional church planting movement. Before we leave NY City, we already made up our mind to devote ourselves to plant churches all over Mongolia, especially focusing on those key cities in Mongolia.
Nomadic mentality and confrontational attitude of Mongolians have challenged our patience many times, sometimes made us to be depressed and discouraged. Our emphasis on absolute loyalty, devotion, obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ became our constant emphasis on the discipleship.
Mongolians are in general very open and hospitable. So I will not hesitate to say, “It is much easier to share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with them than any other ethnic group I know of. Even though I see the rapid changes among Mongolians, I still see the openness in their heart for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
From the early on we learned that we will enter the area when God opens the door while being much more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and being more dependent on His power.
It began in Darhan during the last year of my first term in Mongolia. Even though we have less than one year left before we return to America for our home assignment, we start to make journey to Erdent during the weekend for evangelistic outreach and church planting. Around September 2006, the first church which I directly involved with was formed in Erdent area. It will take 6 hours for the round trip from Darhan to Erdent. House to house evangelism and one apartment to another were the mode of evangelistic outreach. We will make sure that we pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the sick people expecting God to heal and then God began to heal sick Mongolians. This trip became more challenging as it starts to snow and the road becomes icy. During this time, we had two close encounters: one with train and the other was major car accident with 8 people in the car. We realized that the church planting is risky, dangerous, and costly. It will require any missionary to be courageous, faithful to the calling and willing to travel extra miles. Currently there in Erdent are five different locations where Mongolians worship together regularly.
We came back from the State in 2008 and settle downed in Erdent and start to move aggressively into new areas and plant new churches: 45km away in Ulaan Tulgoi, 12 hour drive to West in Muruun, Two day train ride to Zaminwood(This church is located on the border of China.), four our drive to Eastnorth Selinge(close to Russian boarder), 14 hour drive to Westsouth Arhangai, 12 hour drive to Eastnorth Berix, etc. Last church we have involved with 45km away in Ulaan Tulgoi. Around 20 some churches have been planted which Esther and I have involved with, some of them closed, some of them struggling and some of them growing.
We drove, drove and drove. We still are driving to enter into new territory to plant a new church where it has not been reached. It is our intention to be faithful to the calling until last minute here in Mongolia. We are the church planter and we will remain as the church planter until the Lord comes back.
The church planting will be carried out in an environment of holistic ministry. Just planting the church is not enough, the newly planted church must be nurtured. The special attention should be paid to Mongolian church planter and whatever the existing structure or non structured condition of the church So mental, spiritual, physical, financial, intellectual condition of each church planter and each church have been the grave matter to us. From the early on, we will spend whatever resources available to us to meet the needs which we have mentioned above. So I like to attach my annual ministry report of 2018 to explain.
We fed those who are hungry. We clothed those naked. We visited those in prisons. We provided woods to those cold. We did in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It has happened many times during our ministry in Mongolia. Let only Jesus Christ be glorified whatever we have done in Mongolia.
Our final thought on the ministry in Mongolia.
Luke 17:10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have done our duty.’
