Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Thanks for praying for Pete's trip to Burkina with Appleton Alliance... Pete had a very encouraging trip -- The Leadership Training went well. Pastor Dennis had good Biblical principles for leadership that the church leaders absorbed and were applying to their own contexts.

Some highlights:
Pete visited Lazare -- Lazare had planted the Patte D'Oie church and youth center with Pete, and had worked with us in ministering to the National Youth. Shortly after our last term in Burkina, Lazare was sent to plant a church in the town of Koudougou, which has a large university campus. A few years later finds the church already running about 300 -- 200 of which are university students! Appleton Alliance had helped the church buy a piece of land and build a hangar, and they have already begun planting churches in 5 other locations around the first church! Lazare's vision is to train the 200 University students in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting, and then as they graduate, help them plant churches across the country.

Pete also had a chance to visit Sector 30, where around 2004, we had run into Asseita, the crippled lady who was crawling across the road on her knees and knuckles. She was one of the first three ladies who received trikes, beginning the handicapped ministry, and the handicapped association. Since then, more than 50 trikes have been given away. The Envision team has partnered with Pastor Yissouf to bring the ministry to a whole new level, with a garden project, a repair site to fix the trikes we've given out, and chicken & pig project.

Pete met with Agabus about Awana's progress. Agabus waiting for the latest hard statistics, but he thinks there are now 30,000 kids that are part of Awana -- we are on our way to the 1,000,000!!

Pete took part in a district meeting with all the Ouaga churches. Sunday morning. Just the Ouagadougou district leaders, district church members that could afford transport, and central church attendees made over 2000 people! 14 churches were represented, and they are thriving. The leaders are men who Pete discipled and I fed! (We had lunch meetings! :-) )

Pete remembered back to his first Sunday in Ouagadougou, during the Fall of 1998, when the Central Church was the only church in the whole Ouagadougou district with less than 200 people in attendance!

God is good! It was good to see some of the fruit of our labor during this last trip, and see God at work in mighty ways!

We are grateful to those of you who have traveled to Burkina to work alongside us, and to those of you who have “been” to Burkina with us, ministering alongside us through your prayers, financial support and encouragement. We look forward to your partnership with us in Atlanta!

**Continue to pray for the final details in our house sale and move. Inspection is this Tues, April 4. Pray for favor. Closing date is set for May 31, the kids last day of school is probably June 3, (we still have 1 snow day to make up) Pete will be on trips June 1-9, the kids both have events June 10. There are a lot of logistics to work out, as you can see.
