Rich and Lisa Brown
Prayer Letter/Ministry Update
Colombia was incredible! I wish you guys could have come with us. The mission had us fly, and it was such a nice way to travel for a change. We met the group in Cali first and loved the heat and the way everyone hung out on the streets until late in the night. The church was packed out both nights of our concerts, and we had such a great time making friends. Cali was a great first impression! We also met up with Norberto and Janet, a young couple pastoring teens in Cali. They even gave us their mission statement all typed up. It was great to spend time with them and encourage them.
From Cali, we traveled to Armenia, a past "hotspot" of unrest. We really didn't ever feel in danger, but had a great time staying at the Alliance school there. We met some youth leaders with large goals in mind for impacting their city and country. It was so encouraging! We were able to meet up with a youth leader there. They had just had a baby and were really having a hard time balancing life and ministry. We had a good long afternoon meeting with them and spent most of the time just praying with them and helping them realize the importance of rest.
In Bogota, we were treated like royalty at Maritza Cumbas house. Maritza is an Alliance missionary in Colombia. She is from Puerto Rico and a woman on the move. We loved getting to know her and the many fantastic friends she has. All in all, the Colombia tour was great. We felt God's presence throughout the 10 days. Nineteen people made first-time decisions for Christ, and we were able to celebrate God's love with hundreds of believers. One of the highlights was watching two of our band members (and youth leaders in our church in Trujillo) preach. They moved all over the platform and reminded me of Rich. I thought it was all very flattering.
Back home in Quito, we decided to begin recording with Corban at a studio here. It went well, and just today we finished everything up. he CD has nine songs and is very well done. We have had as few as two and as many as five from the band stay with us for over a month, and today the last two left. The time we spent together during taping proved to be invaluable, and many theological, relational, ethical, spiritual, and financial issues were discussed. We are so thankful for the relationships we have in the band.
The group really wants to stay missions-minded in the music forum, and it is exciting to hear their heart and be a part of their vision. Keep praying for Corban. If you are interested in one of our CDs, we will be selling them at the end of this month. A part of the proceeds from this CD is going to help the families in the garbage dump, so we are so excited to get selling!
Finally, don't forget to pray for us at the end of this month. On March 31 we will be playing at the national stadium in Lima. We really want to make the most of this opportunity, so pray for us as we decide what songs to sing and how to get both youth leaders and their teens connected to missions.
On the home front, exciting things have been happening. Olivia won the grand prize for the science fair and is one happy camper! Her parents are pretty proud, too! Michaela made it into Little League here in Quito. She had her first game on Saturday, and they played a good game. Josiah went on a field trip on Friday and planted trees. Alexa had to have surgery the Friday before that and was a real trooper. They intubated her and that made her throat irritated, but that was her worst complaint.
The first days of March we celebrated "Carnaval" and went to a camp for youth on the coast, in the city of Manta. It was hot, and the throwing water at everyone on the streets was going full throttle. We had so much fun and really loved playing with everyone. Rich and I spoke at the camp eight different times, and felt like there was a lot of positive feedback. We also had a meeting with Alliance youth leaders in the area and are looking to have a two- to three-day training conference with these leaders.

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.
