ARRIVAL IN SARAJEVO
To our praying friends...
We arrived in Sarajevo last week on July 19th with absolutely no hitches in the whole trip. Thanks so much for praying for us - God really answered all our prayers. Luggage was checked underweight and all our carry-ons gave us NO problems! Every flight was on-time and our seating arrangements were great. We had a whole crew of friends waiting for us at the airport when we arrived and all the luggage arrived in-tact and got through customs with no questions at all! All our friends were able to help us load things up and travel across town to the place we're living in over the next four weeks - which is way up the hillside right beside the old part of Sarajevo - a beautiful view with a nice quiet neighborhood!
Looking out over Old Sarajevo from the balcony where we're staying I counted out 29 different minarets marking the locations of Mosques in just this one part of the city. It is a stark reminder of why we're here and what kind of focus our team will have as we look to start a community center outreach in Sarajevo. Continue to pray with us in this!
In just our first week back in country we've been able to find a large apartment in a house where we'll be moving mid-August. This happened so fast and we're blessed with a nice home and a great location. We'll be working to get the girls registered in school starting this next week. They start at the beginning of September. Pray for this process and our moving things from Tuzla to Sarajevo around August 15th. Thanks!
God is so good. Thanks for praying for us! We'll keep you updated!

HOW TO PRAY FOR US THIS SUMMER...
• Pray for our month of transition this August... we move into the home we found mid-month. Pray for us to find a reliable truck to move our things from Tuzla to Sarajevo. We want to get as settled as possible before school starts at the beginning of September.
•This next week we register the girls in the Sarajevo International School - a Turkish run English speaking school. Pray for us to be able to get the girls into the correct grades.
•Pray for our teammates who will be arriving into Sarajevo later on in August: Laura Ekman and Todd & Karen Dinius with two kids. We want them to feel welcome and be able to settle into a new life in language study here in Sarajevo. Pray for our team to work well in welcoming them.
•Pray that we can develop the key relationships that will give us inroads in the communities where we are living in Sarajevo. This is so important!
PARTNERSHIPS
•Pray that we can work well with the national church in Bosnia to make a significant impact in Sarajevo - especially in starting up a new community center with our Bosnian partners.
•Relationships are key! Pray for our mission team to model unity and foster reconciliation. We'll have up to four Alliance missionary units in Sarajevo by this summer '09.
•Pray for strong relationships with our partnering churches in the States - that we'll find the right churches and district, individuals ---- who can help to pray and support the Sarajevo initiative to start a new community center. We can't do this on our own!

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.
Give.
You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
