Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Updates – October - November 2009
Dear Praying Partners…
Just like Jesus said – “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:14). As I prepare to write this letter, I am encouraged and want you to be, too. God has been answering your and our prayers. Just look at the answers in comparison with the requests in our last letter…
 The believers who were baptized on June 28th are strong and faithful. Praise the Lord!
 We had great travels and visits on our “good-bye” trip to visit family – and not a single problem with the car. ( We are needing to sell it, though) PTL!
 Ben worked most of the summer in a “churrascaria” (Brazilian Barbecue Restaurant) in Cambridge – a good work experience and learning to be on his own. He even managed to come visit us in Sćo Paulo before returning to Houghton for his sophomore year. PTL!
 We arrived in Sćo Paulo, and went that day to see our new “home” – it is just right for our lives, now – and only a 4 block walk to the Seminary. PTL!
 You prayed for our re-integration into our ministries – SEMIBA and church planting team in Taboćo – and we are readapting to the pace of life and ministry here, and feeling like we are back home, again. PTL!
You prayed for jobs for our children in the states, and all of them are working or studying. Continue to pray for Rebecca and Andrew, living in Michigan, as they seek God's direction for their lives and ministries. Rebecca passed her National Nursing Boards – Hooray! Now she is looking in earnest for work in her area. Brian and Karen are seeking God’s direction for the next step in their careers, too. We know they are in God’s hands, and have entrusted them to His care, as we continue to serve Him, here in Brazil. Laura and Walter continue teaching in Cuba, New York. We do miss the grandkids – Zachary and Isabella… but Facebook and Skype sure do help!
CONTINUE TO PRAY…
Pray for direction in the hunt for an Academic Administrator for the Alliance Biblical Seminary, and for a couple of more teachers. We are rejoicing as the new Missions Major is getting off the ground. Pray for God’s provision of students and teachers to complete this program.
Pray for the new church in Taboćo to advance into the darkness of its community, loving people for Jesus. They are negotiating a full time rental for the place we are now meeting in. Pray for the worship services to be opportunities to serve God and their community.
Pray for the 3 small groups to grow in depth and in love for others. Pray for homes and leaders for the new groups to start by the end of the year, and for them to reproduce disciples.
Pray for Paul’s Doctoral Studies – He is working on his dissertation proposal, and preparing for Comps – the first by the end of November and latter early next year.

Praise to the Lord & Prayer for the Clarks
You prayed for our ministry in Taboćo, and God answered – over and above. That is His way, isn’t it? In September, we had the 15th Alliance Marriage Encounter (ALMA) – and we are rejoicing at what God has done. The story of Rodrigo and Cida is one of many. Rodrigo came to the Taboćo Alliance Church invited by neighbors and friends, and he found Jesus Christ as his Savior. As he started to follow Christ, he realized that this new walk requires steps of faith and reconciliation. The weekend of the Marriage Encounter was just that for him and his separated wife – they are seeing their marriage restored, and are bringing their lives into line with God’s plan. Praise the Lord for His unfailing Love. Pray for these babes in Christ – and for other couples who are living a new life, as result of the weekend.

Coming Events for your prayer agenda:
Discipleship Seminar (Taboćo) – “Breaking with your Past” – Sunday, October 4 (all day)
Our next baptism – Oct 25 – 3 more candidates (all new believers in the last 6 months)
Master’s Program (FATELA) – Paul will be teaching a module on “Spiritual Formation for Leadership” in Sćo Paulo – October 19-24. Pray for Paul’s preparation and good learning for the students – this is a module that touches people’s hearts and souls.
Ministries in SP – Continue to Pray for Paul & Bev, as we serve the Lord here…
SEMIBA – We are just about at mid-semester and God has been teaching us all, lots about Himself and His faithfulness. Classes are moving forward, students are growing in their faith and walk with the Lord, and God has been at work in a marvelous way. Here is the scoop -- CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN SOON ON A FACILITY FOR AIRPORT ALLIANCE CHURCH, THAT WILL HAVE A FLOOR FOR SEMIBA. The long term dream of a “home” for the Seminary should be realized by the end of next year. Pray for God“s provision of the necessary funds, in surprising ways (just as He surprised us all with the quick sale of a property, which supplied about one-fourth of the total building cost.) If you believe God wants you to participate, check out the giving information at the end of the letter.
TABOĆO – The church plant is running about 70 people in the worship services, and 45 in the cell groups. Pray for new believers to be reached, and for them to grow into followers of Jesus Christ. Pray for our ministry of mentoring leaders and developing the basic ministries of the church – this takes time and patience to see God work in people’s lives. Ministries that will touch people’s lives with the Gospel of Christ’s Reconciliation – Peace with God, and Peace with one another.
GREAT COMMISSION FUND – Pushing Back the Darkness through International Ministries – every contribution to the Great Commission Fund enables us and other workers of the Christian & Missionary Alliance to keep pushing back the darkness. As we rejoice with the faithful giving for this current year, we trust you will be faithful to the end.
Let’s keep believing God to answer PRAYER, and PRAY! He is the ONE who ANSWERS PRAYER!
Serving Christ, who saved us and sends us out,
Paul & Beverly Clark

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
