Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Ostlie Update September 2009
Dear Friends:

Missionary conference tour begins on September 14 in the Northwestern District in churches near Fargo. Later on October 8 we travel to Tennessee to begin our tour in the Southern District. Pray that God would guide and use us as a couple as we share together in message and pictures how God continues to open doors in Reņaca, Chile and around the world. We are trusting God that many would sense the urgency of the gospel as we help “push back the darkness” by His grace and strength.

Men’s Retreat, October in Quisco, October 10th.
Pray for the men as they continue to grow in maturity. This retreat will be an excellent opportunity to consolidate the fruit that we have seen these past six months in Reņaca.

Encounter Ministries and Transitioning
Since the encounter ministries continue to be key in finding open doors in Reņaca/Viņa del Mar, pray for long lasting fruit in the two encounters this fall (spring). Especially pray as our church continues to disciple and train the new believers in various leadership roles as the mission transitions out of Reņaca in the next 2 years.

Women’s Encounter
Approximately 55 ladies attended the recent encounter with 40 ladies working to make it a success. Every Thursday morning 25 ladies meet at the church to pray for each other. As part of the follow-up after an encounter, Nadia, the pastor’s wife, leads a bible class for the ladies. We are encouraged to know that the women are excited to pray and study God’s word.

Missionary Preparation
Continue to pray for Jared and Rachel as they prepare for their future work overseas as missionaries in a creative access country. Pray that God will guide them as they work in their church and secular job in Chicago. Their two children, Nolene and Jonas Charles are growing rapidly. How delightful it was for us to visit them with Joy in August.

Julae as an RA
Julae is excited to be back studying nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University. This year she accepted work as an RA in her dorm. Pray for her that God would give her strength as she juggles her time between work and school. She also desires to be used of Him as she ministers to the students.

Amy-Li at Northwestern
Amy is busy working 12-hour shifts at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the step down cardiology unit. Pray for her safety as she takes public transportation in downtown Chicago. It was fun for us to stay with her and Julae (for the summer) during our visit to Chicago. We visited many of the local attractions!

Employment for Felipe
We thank the Lord for providing employment for Felipe Nava (Joy) in US Bank. He has also another part time employment to help catch up financially. Pray for Joy as she works as a para professional with hopes of getting experience for a future teaching elementary degree.

For Chuck's Sister in Surgery, Sept 17
Histerectomy with clotting problems

Cousin's Brain tumor
Justin as serious hermoraging of brain tumor, only 23 yrs old

“The walls were moved”
Thank you for praying for us as we repaired 80 feet of basement walls in our house in Fargo. After excavating, lifting up the house and moving one wall out 7 inches, the expanding clay soil was replaced with pea rock. We then installed 12 steel beams inside the basement. After the nightmare of repairs and high cost, we can now relax knowing that structurally the house is back into place. In spite of the problems, we enjoy being back in our house and developing relationships with our neighbors.

Thank you for upholding us through your prayers and financial support. We appreciate every prayer, every financial help and every letter of encouragement. We thank the Lord for you as part of God’s family as we continue to reach into unreached areas of Chile.

In His love,

Chuck and Betty Ostlie

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
