Prayer Letter/Ministry Update
Dear family and friends,
Psalm 138:2b ". . . for you have exalted above all things your name and your word."
Below are testimonies of how the Lord Jesus is exalting His name and His Word in the lives of 4 young ladies.
Yesterday I was with a young lady named Perpetu, she is dying of AIDS, her body nothing but skin and bones but she was full of hope and was declaring the joy of knowing the Lord Jesus and the assurance of His deep love for her. It reminded me of 2 Cor. 3:18 "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." Her beauty in the Lord Jesus has transformed the ravages of AIDS. In all her weakness she continues to declare the glories of our Lord Jesus.
Galiya, she is 4th from the left in the picture. She just finished a 6 month internship as a policewoman. The professor had told her when she began the course that he did not appreciate police students that were literate and intelligent, that he preferred the illiterate and the ignorant, especially among the females. Galiya was threatened again and again, ridiculed in class by him BUT she never succumbed to his demand of a bribe and/or a personal rendezvous with him. Galiya came last Saturday afternoon to tell me that she is among the top 5 of the 200 interns. Psalm 25:21 "May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you." It is a miracle and the Lord Jesus is exalting His name and His Word in Galiya's life. She has heartaches in her home life - her father is an alcoholic and her mother has a mental disorder and so much of the responsibility falls back on Galiya and her younger sister. What precious character HE has built through these difficulties - that is why she could face this professor with courage and not back down. James 1:2-3 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." What a picture of maturity, Galiya's faith is strong, not lacking anything.
And two other young ladies in the picture below that I would like to introduce you to are Pamela (far left) and Mimi (far right). Both of them have been married over 5 years and have been unable to bear children. Both of them have suffered much anguish from comments made by in-laws who insist that their sons take on another wife or go elsewhere to have a child and bring a child back into the home. Both of their husbands did the latter - had children outside of the marriage and then brought the child/children into their marriage. Both Pamela and Mimi, through the grace of the Lord Jesus have received and now love these children as their own - for Pamela it is Evan and Eve, for Mimi it is Gloire. At this moment both of them are now 2 to 3 months pregnant. I cannot express to you their joy and their gratefulness to the Lord Jesus, tears and laughter mingled together. 2 Cor. 12:9-10 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Soon I will be on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. I head to Nebraska on August 1, 2011 and will be on home assignment through March 1, 2012. I will be doing 2 church tours during these 7 months and so am looking forward to both making and renewing friendships during missionary conferences in C&MA churches.
The above are victorious stories of the Lord Jesus in young lives, there are innumerable stories of defeat but today I wanted to share the victories with you. May we be faithful in our individual lives to treasure what is worth treasuring - His Name and His Word.
Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your giving that makes my presence possible here in Congo. Thank you.

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer
1. We had teaching on spiritual warfare in March/April in the CMA churches here in Congo. Pray that those who were set free would continue to walk in that freedom and walk in obedience to His Word. "I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free." Ps. 119:32
2. Please pray for Pamela and Mimi. Both ladies have waited years in their marriages to be pregnant and in His abundant grace both of them are now pregnant. Praise HIM for hearing their hearts' cry.
3. Pray for Honorine, HIV+. In the past 4 months the level of virus has decreased to half. She is born again. Life is a daily struggle being a single mom with 4 children. None of her children are HIV+. Praise Him for His healing hand in her life and pray that she would have an undivided heart in seeking HIM.
4. Praise God for Brice as he serves the Lord in the orphanages. Pray that the orphans will hear and understand the desire of our Heavenly Father to be their Father, Master, and Shepherd.
5. Pray for Diane that the Lord would bring her to a saving knowledge of Himself. Religion has filled her life and heart and is preventing her at this time to understand her sinfulness and need of a Saviour. Diane is the director of a project for young, single moms and has given us the privilege for a short Bible presentation twice monthly with these 90 girls.
6. Pray Philippians 1:9-11 for our Congolese pastoral couples ". . my prayer (is) that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God."
7. Pray 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 for our missionary body "With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."
Thank you for praying. This past month on one of the desiring god blogs it talked about that when we pray Scripture it is like thunder in the ears of our Father, His very own words being requested of Him. I pray that your prayers will be thunder in His ears as you intercede for the Congo.
Lord bless you,
