Alex and Julie Zell

Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

photo

Dear Friends,

The Lord is our refuge and strength and a very present help in times of trouble. This is the one truth that we can cling to when so much of the world is out of the control. Mass devastation or one single death grieves our Lord. He cares deeply for each of us in whatever situation we find ourselves in. He wants us to find our strength and peace only in Him. May the people who have suffered from the effects of earthquakes around the world know God's healing hand and His comfort.

Serving with you for His glory,
The Brazellians
Alex, Julie, Melissa, Jodi, Linsey

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Praises
-Praise God that FATELA graduate, André de Souza, taught "Ministry to Brazilian Indigenous People" at the seminary from Feb. 1st to 10th.
-Praise God for the FATELA "Research Methods for Ministry" that just took place from Feb. 22nd to 27th. We had a fantastic teacher and 2 new students this module.
-We had a great field forum with the Pr Darryl and Rene Jacobson and Alex's sister, Andrea. It was a bittersweet time as it was the last field forum and this year we will be saying goodbye to several missionaries.
-Praise God that Jurandir Yanagihara was elected as the Brazilian C&MA national president. There were many leadership changes at national and district levels. We praise the Lord for those capable leaders who were chosen at Council.
-Praise God for the good reception for Alex's seminar on churchplanting at the Brazilian General Council.
-God provided for us through sacrificial givers.

Prayer Requests
-Pray for smooth transitions and a time of revival and encouragement among the pastors and missionaries. Pray for the churches that are struggling with leadership, finances and spiritual growth.
-Pray for Rosi and Regina, two Alliance pastor's wives, who have serious health issues. Pray for them to be healed and for their families' encouragement. Pray for church people to step up alongside the husbands to help with the caregiving. Pray for protection for the churches as the pastors minister to their own wives at this crucial time.
-This is a big decision year for our family. Please pray that we would know God's mind and obey His voice. Pray especially for Melissa as she looks at college options here and in the States.
-Pray for our Bible study to grow. We passed out more than 100 booklets to our neighbors and we are inviting them to our study.
-Pray that God would build His church here in the North Side of the city.

We have been so blessed with some gifts from dear people. Thank you for your generous spirit. We couldn't be here without you!

If you feel the Lord wants you to give sacrificially and in faith to help meet our needs, here are three ways that we could use your help. Just mark your check memo accordingly and mail it to:

The Christian and Missionary Alliance
P.O. Box 35000
Colorado Springs, CO 80935-3500.

You can write Great Commission Fund in the memo which supports all the C&MA international workers which includes taking care of our rent, the girls' schooling, medical insurance, etc. This the backbone of C&MA missions. No other denomination will support Alliance missions. It is up to all of us. If you want to mark Support of Zells in the memo, it will go to the Great Commission Fund but show your support for us personally!

You can help the ministry to the Angolan Alliance church by giving to the Zell Work of Fund, In November, Alex is planning to go to Angola to teach the Alliance Theology course and a missions course to the pastors. The Angola Alliance church came to Brazil and asked for their help to educate their pastors. The majority of their pastors cannot read so they really need to be strengthened in their doctrines. The plan is to send a Brazilian pastor once a year and an American missionary once a year so that it is not too heavy of a burden on either mission. Our "work of" fund also enables us to buy books, Bibles and it also helps with FATELA.

To help us personally you can give to our Outfit Fund for Zells- this helps with clothes and shoes, school uniforms and supplies etc.

You may give through snail mail with the address above or on-line at: http://www.cmalliance.org/give/gmissions.jsp, type in "Alexander Zell", and click "work (used for special work projects by a specific missionary)" from the drop down list below his name. Thank you for being a part of growing a healthy Brazilian church! May God richly bless you as you trust Him to take care of you and us.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
