Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

photo

Good morning friends,

We are so privileged to be able to share our prayer requests with you. We have heard from so many of you who wrote just to say you were praying for us on Friday. Thank you from our hearts! We had invited 12 couples and 8 actually confirmed, but only 3 couples came out on Friday night. We were disappointed and sad to know that the couples that didn't come also didn't hear the Gospel, but we praise God for those 6 lives. We are challenging the couples to complete the 40 day Love Dare. They had such a great time together that they all committed to coming back after the 40 days to celebrate. So, please continue to pray for these couples to read the book and practice it, but more than that, to read the Scriptures and be convinced of their need for a Savior. We would also like to do a second showing of this movie on Friday night, October 9th. Some of the couples that couldn't come had experienced family emergencies. Pray that Satan would be defeated in these couples' lives.

Melissa would you like you to pray for her classmates. We are going to show the Billy Graham movie, "The Climb," on October 16th or 17th and have a game night with them. Pray for their hearts to be softened. They seem to be talking about death recently so it seems that God may be preparing them to think about eternity.

Thanking for pushing back the darkness through your prayers!
May God richly bless you!

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Prayer Requests
Pray for the São Paulo pastors' wives as they meet together on October 17th to encourage and pray for one another. It can be very lonely in the ministry and many of the wives struggle with taking care of their families and ministering and also allowing their husbands the freedom to minister.

Melissa's English teacher prayed to receive Christ as her personal Savior! Pray for her grow in her walk and that she would understand completely that only Jesus saves and following spiritism is not from God.

Continue to pray for God to open up the spiritual eyes of those who are attending our evangelistic Bible study on Tuesday nights at our house. One man prayed to commit his life to Christ with Alex last month. Pray for him and his partner. She wants to please God and get married legally and she is also in depression. God is at work convicting and transforming lives! We believe that He is creating a thirst for a living relationship with Him in our neighbors and friends.

Alex is coordinating another FATELA masters module from October 19th to 24th. Missionary Paul Clark will be teaching, "Leadership and Spiritual Formation." Please pray for more new students and for regular students to take this important class.

Alex is trying to line up FATELA pastoral theology professors and SEMIBA missions professors for the 2010 academic year. Please pray that God will give him grace and favor in the eyes of non-Alliance teachers. He would like to complete this challenge by the end of October to prepare the calendar for advertising.

Pray for 3 more usable church planter interviews during the month of October. He was able to complete 4 during the month of September and has one scheduled for Oct. 7th and another one for Oct.10th. Pray for him to complete these 3 interviews by the end of the month.

Pray for continued protection on our lives and house. Melissa is spreading her wings more and frequently uses the city buses. Our next "wall" neighbors were robbed last night while they were sleeping. Traffic accidents and people running red lights are a part of our daily lives- we never take a quick trip to the grocery store for granted!

Praises

We praise God for those of you who give to our "work of fund" and our "outfit fund." The family computer crashed this past month and was beyond repair. This was our second computer crash in 3 months.

Jodi turned 13 on October 4th. She is now officially a teenager! We praise God for her spiritual sensitivity and her love for people. She says that she will take care of us when we get old!
Praise God that Alex found a fourth denomination that was willing to be interviewed for his doctoral studies!

We are so thankful for any financial gifts that God provides through you. If you are sensing that God wants you to support us, here are three ways that we could use your help. God loves a cheerful giver!!! We love you, too! Just mark your check memo accordingly and mail it to:

The Christian and Missionary Alliance
P.O. Box 35000
Colorado Springs, CO 80935-3500.

To help us personally you can give to our Outfit Fund for Zells- this helps with clothes and shoes, school uniforms and supplies, and most recently, the family computer replacement.

You can help the ministry to the Angolan Alliance church by giving to the Zell Work of Fund. Alex is planning to go to Angola to teach the Alliance Theology course and a missions course to the pastors in 2010. Leaders from Angola came to Brazil and asked for their help to educate their pastors. The majority of their pastors cannot read so they really need to be strengthened in their doctrines. The plan is to send a Brazilian pastor once a year and an American missionary once a year so that it is not too heavy of a burden on either mission. Our "Zell work of" fund also enables us to buy books, evangelistic movies, Bibles, Alex's computer repairs and helps with FATELA.

If you would like to help our ministries, you can give a tax-deductible gift to "The Christian and Missionary Alliance" with "Zell-Work Of" in the memo and send it to: The Christian and Missionary Alliance, P.O. Box 35000, Colorado Springs, CO 80935-3500. When you give to our work of fund, you are investing in FATELA, which is training the Brazilian leaders, as well as providing us with Bible study materials, and helping our Christmas ministries to our neighbors and other ministry expenses.

You can also give to the Great Commission Fund which supports all the C&MA career missionaries which includes taking care of our rent, the girls' schooling, medical insurance, etc. Just mark your check "Zell support" or "GCF". You may give through snail mail with the address above or on-line at: http://www.cmalliance.org/give/gmissions.jsp, type in "Alexander Zell", and click "work (used for special work projects by a specific missionary)" from the drop down list below his name. Thank you for being a part of growing a healthy Brazilian church!

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
